The thing that I wish That are in Maya that are in ZBrush
The thing about my story with Maya is that I started using Maya when it was initially. It was 2004-2006. I could not even get the hang of it. It was so hard for me to get the concept of the program because it was one of the hard things that you had to use, especially when you are modeling a character. I did not learn how to use Polygons; I used nerbs. That concept alone pissed me off because when I created the surface, it looked so ugly I would fail all the time. Since then, Maya has change overwhelmingly much more than it was years ago. but I have not created a character in Maya yet (I do not want to hold my breath; I know it is coming down the line.) However, the one thing that changed from going to school then and now is learning to model. My teacher could give me a chance to learn in ZBrush to create a character instead of Maya. Yes, landscapes and accessories are good in Maya, but other than that, I love character creation in ZBrush. When using ZBrush, it is like you are using digital clay when you are creating with it. One of the items that I have a great time using ZBrush
One of the things that I am favorite things using Zbrush is the sculpting brushes. I wish that this was In Maya. Using sculpting tools helps you smooth and pull out Polygons and stretch more Polygons in places that need it.
I want this into Maya so bad. This will help me when modeling a tree or this organic house that I failed the first time I tried in Projects and Portfolio 2. The science behind it is pretty amazing.
When you are using Different types of sculpting tools, it gives you the ability to mold the geometry like clay. I think this is my favorite Brush is the add clay brush when I am using ZBrush. You can make hair with a brush.
The cool thing that I learned is that you can create your alpha brush. It is like a stamp that places what you clone on another geometry. I cannot stress how much I love this program. There is so much more to explore but this, on the top of my head, is one of my favorite programs to use while I am character modeling. If you are a sculptor, try out the program; trust me, you will enjoy the program. I would never odds and ends of the program if I did not return to Full Sail University. If you are interested in signing up, they not only have Computer animation, they have so many different programs that might tickle your fancy.
